What We Do With Our Wood By-Products
At Polar Tree and Engine Care, we believe in making the most of every tree we work with. Rather than sending our wood by-products to the landfill, we repurpose them in ways that benefit the community.
Wood Chips
The wood chips produced from our tree removals and pruning jobs are available to local residents for free. If you're interested in receiving a load of wood chips for landscaping, mulch, or ground cover, join our Chip List. Just provide your contact information, and we’ll reach out as chips become available in your area.
Firewood
Usable logs from tree removals are cut into firewood-length rounds. We’re building a Firewood List for customers interested in receiving firewood as it becomes available. This is a great option for those looking to stock up for winter or enjoy a backyard fire pit. All remaining firewood is donated to Alaska Healing Hearts to support veterans in need.
Millable Logs
Occasionally, we come across high-quality logs that are suitable for milling into slabs, boards, or other woodworking projects. We offer these logs free of charge to amateur carpenters, woodworkers, and hobbyists who can put them to good use. If you’d like to be notified when millable logs are available, join our Millable Log List by sending us your contact information and a brief note about what kind of projects you work on.
How Our Wood By-Product Lists Work
To join one of our wood by-product lists, simply fill out the form below and we’ll add you to the appropriate list. Availability is seasonal and based on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please note: These offerings are part of our effort to reduce waste and share resources with the community, and are provided free of charge. Because of this, we are unable to sort or guarantee specific wood species. What you receive depends entirely on what we’re processing at the time—it could be birch, spruce, cottonwood, or a mix. We call it a "luck of the draw" system.
If you choose to pass on a delivery due to the wood species offered, we may remove your name from the list to ensure fairness to others waiting.
